If you want to go from Barcelona to Girona airport, you are really choosing between three things: a scheduled bus, a train to the city followed by a connection, or a vehicle of your own for a group. In this guide we separate them, using what Sagalés, Aena and Renfe publish on their own sites, which we opened in October 2026. We do not give private hire prices, because each company sets them by date, hours and kilometres.
Barcelona to Girona airport
Sagalés operates the scheduled buses between Barcelona and Girona-Costa Brava airport, and two of its services matter here. Aena's airport page lists Sagalés for the Barcelona connection and for El Prat airport, among other lines.

Sources: the Sagalés transfer page between Girona airport and central Barcelona, the Sagalés page for line 602 and Aena's page on getting to Girona-Costa Brava airport by bus. Sagalés does not publish a journey time for line 602 on that page, so we do not give one.
Getting to Girona airport from Barcelona
The clearest route is to walk or ride to Estació del Nord, board the Sagalés bus and arrive about 75 minutes later. Sagalés states that the trip is direct, that the bus has free wifi and that it leaves from the airport's bus park on the way back.
A practical order:
- Check your flight time. Sagalés says its timetable is coordinated with Ryanair's flights at this airport.
- Plan how to reach the station. According to Sagalés, it is about ten minutes on foot from Plaça de Catalunya, with Metro line 1, Rodalies commuter trains and city buses nearby. Aena adds that it sits next to the Arc de Triomf. Our guide to Barcelona's bus stations covers how to get there and what is inside.
- Buy your ticket on the Sagalés site. Its transfer page lists 35 euros for the return trip.
- Allow a margin. For a flight, add your airline's check-in time to the ride.
- On the way back, look for the bus in the airport's bus park.
Aena's page says buses leave roughly 20 to 25 minutes after each flight arrives, which is handy if you are collecting a group off a Ryanair flight.
Girona airport to Barcelona: which stop and which line?
For the city centre, the Sagalés bus to Estació del Nord is the direct option; for El Prat airport, use line 602 in the opposite direction. Sagalés advertises line 602 as running between Barcelona airport, Girona airport, Girona and Figueres, with one-way fares of 23 euros to Girona airport, 24 euros to Girona and 28 euros to Figueres.
If you land at El Prat with luggage and need to reach Girona airport, compare line 602 with the city route on the Sagalés site, and check where each stops on your date. For moving around the Barcelona side, our guide to the Aerobús explains the airport shuttle and its stops. For groups landing at El Prat and heading to Girona, a private airport transfer avoids carrying bags between vehicles.
Is there a train from Barcelona to Girona airport?
Renfe's route page covers trains to Girona city, not to the airport, so the train is the alternative only if your destination is the city. It says Renfe runs AVE and long-distance services between Barcelona and Girona, with trains from Sants starting at 06:55.
Renfe also says Girona station is in the centre of the city, open from 05:45 to 23:15, with taxi and bus stops, parking and step-free access. It advises buying tickets in advance for the lowest fares; the details are on Renfe's Barcelona to Girona route page. The downside is that you still need another vehicle to reach the airport or a country hotel.
For a large group with luggage, that makes a single vehicle simpler than splitting everyone between train, taxi and bus.
When is a private coach from Barcelona to Girona airport worth it?
A private coach or minibus is worth it from about eight people, when the destination is not on a scheduled stop, or when you need a fixed pick-up time. On a scheduled line you pay for one seat; with a private vehicle you pay for the vehicle, the hours and the distance, shared among everyone.
The cases we see most among the companies in our directory:
- Weddings at a masia or country estate in the Empordà or Garrotxa, with guests collected in Barcelona or at the airport.
- Day trips to Girona, Besalú, the Costa Brava or the medieval villages.
- School and club outings that need to arrive at a set time.
- Company events and conventions, where a corporate transport company can run a shuttle.
The vehicle normally leaves from and returns to the same point with the same driver. If the programme includes a long lunch or a stop, the waiting time is billed, so say how many hours you expect when you ask for a quote. A group that needs only a morning outbound and an evening return will pay less than one that wants the vehicle on standby all day.
To choose the size, think about people and luggage together:
| Passengers |

| 1 to 4 |
Train or scheduled bus |

| 5 to 8 |
Car with driver or van |
Check space for bags |

| 20 to 35 |
Large minibus |

Seat counts vary by company and vehicle, so ask for them in writing. For smaller vehicles see minibus hire in Barcelona and private drivers and chauffeurs.
Can a private coach collect a group at Girona airport?
Yes, a private coach or minibus can wait at the airport and take the group straight to a hotel, venue or Barcelona, with no stop at a station. This suits groups that land on several flights, because the driver can wait for the last passenger, and the waiting time should then be written into the quote.
Tell the company the flight numbers and arrival times, how many bags each person carries and where the group is going next. Because Aena notes that scheduled buses leave about 20 to 25 minutes after each flight lands, a private vehicle mainly adds value when your party is large, when you need a different drop-off point or when flights are delayed and you do not want to rebook tickets. For the same reason, many wedding planners book the outbound transfer privately and let guests choose their own way home.
Which coach companies could you ask?
These four companies from our Barcelona list have concrete data you can compare. We have not checked which of them run to Girona, so ask about the route when you request a quote.
- Autocares Autocorb, in Barcelona, has 4.8 stars from 303 reviews. Its website says it has operated since 1922 and lists coaches of 28 to 72 seats, with the site in Spanish, Catalan, English and French.
- Autocares Vista Bus, in Barcelona, has 5 stars from 103 reviews and lists vehicles of 6 to 60 seats on its website. It answers Monday to Friday, 9 am to 8 pm.
- Soler bus SL, in Sant Boi de Llobregat, has 5 stars from 71 reviews and shows 24-hour opening on Google.
- Singh minibus Barcelona, in Viladecans, has 5 stars from 66 reviews. Its website lists minibuses and vans and says it has been active since 2003.

What should you ask before booking the coach?
Before accepting a quote, confirm in writing what it includes and how many driving hours it assumes.
- Is it a same-day return, or does the driver stay overnight?
- How many waiting hours are planned, and what does an extra hour cost?
- Tolls, parking and night or holiday surcharges.
- A second driver on long days.
- The company's passenger transport licence and insurance.
- Seat belts, air conditioning and wheelchair access if you need them.
On driving time, the European Commission's page on driving time and rest periods states a daily driving limit of nine hours (ten hours twice a week) and a break of at least 45 minutes after four and a half hours of driving. A wedding that ends in the small hours, or a day with many stops, can exceed what one driver may drive, so ask whether a relief driver is included and who pays. Ask also for the quote to name the company that will actually operate the service.
What affects the price, and how do you get quotes?
The price depends on seats, hours, distance and date, and we do not publish figures because there is no official tariff we can cite.
- Seats. A minibus costs less than a coach but can cost more per person if it runs half empty.
- Date. Wedding Saturdays and bank holiday bridges cost more than a weekday.
- Total hours. They run from the moment the vehicle leaves its base until it returns.
- Waiting. Each hour parked at the destination is billed.
- Tolls and parking. Many quotes bill them separately.
For the breakdown, see our guide to coach hire prices. To get offers, fill in the quote form with the date, group size, pick-up and drop-off points and expected hours. It goes to up to three companies, who reply with a fixed offer.
The more detail you give, the easier it is to compare offers. Mention luggage, whether you return the same day and whether anyone needs an adapted vehicle.
Timetables and fares on this page change often. We checked them in October 2026 on the Sagalés, Aena and Renfe websites and will review them each season.
