Barcelona airport transfer companies

Booking a private transfer in Barcelona makes sense when you arrive with children, heavy luggage, a group or in the early hours. This guide explains how to choose between a taxi, a chauffeured car and a transfer company, which vehicle fits your group and what to ask before you confirm. The companies are in the ranked list above, ordered with Google Maps data. We explain the order in how we rank.

You have three ways to reach Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat without driving: public transport, a taxi or chauffeured car, and a pre-booked private transfer. Public transport is cheapest for one or two people with little luggage. A private transfer wins when three or more of you travel, when you land at night or when you want someone waiting with a name sign. Each company sets its own price by route, vehicle and time, so we do not publish figures for them. The taxi tariff is official, and we set it out below.

Where does the driver meet you at T1 and T2?

The airport has two terminals, T1 and T2 (with areas T2A, T2B and T2C), and each has its own pick-up points. Put your terminal and flight number in the booking.

According to Aena, T1 has a meeting point for pre-booked private-hire cars (VTC) in the car park, level -1. Ride-hailing apps have their own zones in each terminal. Taxis queue outside arrivals, and Aena states that the only official taxi in Barcelona is the black and yellow one, with stands with and without booking.

If you change terminal, the free Aena shuttle runs 24 hours a day, according to Aena's inter-terminal page. It takes about 10 minutes from T1 to T2B and T2C and about 14 minutes from T2 to T1. We suggest asking for pick-up at your arrival terminal, not your departure one.

Private transfers from Barcelona airport

Our shortlist: each company stands out for one concrete fact. None replaces asking for a quote, and everything below comes from Google and the company's own website.

  • CarBooking: first in the ranking, with 5 stars from 191 reviews, filed on Google as an airport shuttle service. Based in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
  • Royal Falcon Limo: the best rated of the heavily reviewed, with 4.8 stars from 541 reviews. It is open 24 hours on Google and, according to its website, has worked since 2019 with saloons, vans, minibuses and limousines.
  • Barcelona in Motion: 4.8 stars from 232 reviews, open 24 hours, and its website names vehicles of 7, 12 and 16 seats plus coaches.
  • blinktransfers: for bigger groups, as its website names vehicles up to 57 seats, with pages in five languages (Spanish, Catalan, English, German and Russian).
  • Taxi Barcelona 7 Plazas: 4.7 stars from 2,175 reviews and, according to its website, active since 1985 with vehicles adapted for reduced mobility.
  • Taxi Ride Barcelona: 5 stars from 82 reviews, with vehicles of 5 to 9 seats and PMR vehicles mentioned on its website.

Which vehicle do you need?

Group size and luggage decide the vehicle, so mention your suitcases when you ask for a quote. Under Spain's land transport regulations, a chauffeured hire car (VTC) cannot have more than nine seats including the driver, as set out in article 181 of the transport regulation published in the BOE. Beyond that, a group travels by minibus or coach.

Group Usual vehicle What to ask
1 to 3 people Saloon How many suitcases fit
4 to 7 people Van or people carrier Whether child seats are available
8 to 16 people Minibus Boot size and luggage space
17 people or more Coach Waiting time and several stops

For large groups see minibus hire in Barcelona or coach hire in Barcelona. If you arrive at a bus or coach station instead, read our guide to the Barcelona bus station.

How much is a taxi from Barcelona airport?

A taxi from the airport has a minimum of 21.00 euros with all supplements included, under the 2026 tariff of the Institut Metropolità del Taxi. It is the only official reference you can use to judge a pre-booked quote.

Item 2026 amount
Starting fare 2.80 euros
Per kilometre, weekdays 8 am to 8 pm 1.35 euros
Per kilometre, night, Saturday and holidays 1.66 euros
Airport supplement 4.60 euros
Minimum from the airport 21.00 euros
Airport to Moll Adossat (cruise port), fixed price 46.00 euros
Waiting, per hour 27.75 euros

Source: taxi.amb.cat. The customer pays tolls on routes with a toll tunnel. A pre-booked transfer can be a fixed price, and that is what to request in writing, including waiting time, tolls and luggage. For cruise passengers, we also have a page on cruise port transfers.

What should you ask before booking a transfer?

Ask these questions before you pay, and keep the answers in writing.

  1. Is the price fixed, and does it include waiting, tolls, parking and luggage?
  2. How long does the driver wait if the flight is late, and do they track it?
  3. Under what licence does the vehicle operate (VTC, taxi or discretionary transport)?
  4. Where will the driver meet you, at T1 or T2, and with what sign?
  5. Are child seats and an accessible vehicle available if you need them?
  6. What is the cancellation rule if your flight changes?

Red flags: a price that never changes whatever the group size, no answer about the vehicle's licence, or a request for full payment up front without a contract.

Where are the transfer companies based?

Of the 47 companies, 26 are in Barcelona city, 7 in El Prat de Llobregat (next to the airport), 5 in Badalona and 3 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Cornellà de Llobregat has 2, and El Masnou, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Cervelló and Viladecans one each.

The seven in El Prat are a few minutes from the terminals. On their own websites, 10 companies mention vehicles adapted for reduced mobility, and the seat counts they name range from 3 to 84.

Onward trips from Barcelona

If your journey continues after El Prat, see the bus from Barcelona to Girona airport or the bus from Barcelona to Andorra. For a driver by the hour, go to chauffeur service in Barcelona. Once you know your flight and the number of passengers, use the quote form and we send it to up to three companies.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a transfer from Barcelona airport to the city centre?
For a taxi, the 2026 tariff of the Institut Metropolità del Taxi sets a minimum of 21.00 euros from the airport, supplements included. A pre-booked private transfer is priced by each company according to route, vehicle and time, so ask for a fixed price in writing and check that it includes waiting time, tolls and luggage.
What is the best way to get from Barcelona airport to the city centre?
It depends on your group. For one or two travellers with light luggage, public transport is the cheapest, and our Aerobús guide covers it. For families, groups, late arrivals or heavy luggage, a pre-booked transfer or a taxi is simpler. Book a larger vehicle early if you are more than four people.
Is there a free shuttle from Barcelona airport?
The free service we could confirm is the Aena shuttle between terminals T1 and T2, which Aena says runs 24 hours a day. It takes about 10 minutes from T1 to T2B and T2C and about 14 minutes from T2 to T1. We found no free shuttle to the city centre, so a transfer or public transport is needed for that.
How do I get between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Barcelona airport?
Use the free Aena inter-terminal shuttle, which runs around the clock. Allow about 10 minutes from T1 to T2B and T2C and about 14 minutes from T2 to T1. Between T2A and T2B it is roughly a two-minute walk. If you booked a private transfer, tell the company which terminal you arrive at.
How much does the airport bus cost in Barcelona?
Fares for the Aerobús are published on the operator's own rates page, and they can change, so we do not copy a figure here. Check the current price on the official Aerobús rates page and read our Aerobús guide for stops and how it compares with a transfer.
